Scheme to help county’s unemployed earns council grant

A major scheme to help unemployed people across the county to get back into work received a massive cash injection this week.

TripStart, which is delivered by Kickstart Norfolk, has secured £66,000 of funding from Breckland Council’s Inspiring Communities programme.

And Matthew Page, Kickstart’s partnership manager, welcomed the news.

He told the Eastern Daily Press: “This new grant funding from Breckland Council and the Inspiring Communities programme will enable us to support the long-term unemployed back into employment or training, building up client confidence and pride with the long-term aim of helping them back into stable long-term employment.”

Sam Chapman-Allen, leader of Breckland Council, echoed his thoughts.

He is reported to have said: “It helps (residents) access new income and offers them greater independence. That can be truly life-changing, specially as we start to come out of a worldwide pandemic and into a new economic world.”

TripStart will immediately put the cash to good use. Top of their wishlist is a support worker, who can help clients, as well as transport costs and programme resources aimed at delivering advice and helping people facing the most complex barriers to access work.

Anyone needing further information can contact TripStart on 01362 699923.
